day 12....lauren's got BLING

lauren has always surprised me with the little things in life. when she was a wee little babe, she never tried to walk, just one day (dec.15,2002) she just up and took off... and like riding a bike, she just one day BAM! started riding her bike...

now she has asked a many time about getting earrings...
momma, i want earrings...
no lauren, not yet.

i wanted to make sure SHE wanted earrings and it was not because of a "friend" has earrings.

so yesterday, after church we are eating lunch and she just looks at me and says,
"Momma, i am ready. I want earrings."
okay lauren, but you know it's gonna hurt like heck....
yes i know, but I want them...can we go right now?

so i look at fred and said, it's time...so we finish lunch, (lauren loves Flan)
and head over to the mall....i am still reminding her it hurts like a wasp sting, but she never back down. so in to ICING'S and she picks out her new body jewelry. then ,
LAUREN ARE YOU READY?????

yes, she was ready... not a tear, she actually laughed a bit when she saw them in the mirror.

she was giddy...and could not wait to go home and show Wayne her newest earrings...because he told her that she was be a little lady and not his JO anymore...well he loved them...and she is still JO...

now as any little girl, she is already asking to go earring shopping...i told after 6 weeks we got a earring date, just me and you...

side note: i don't recall the price to getting your ears pierced back in the 80's. but i know my parents did not pay $40.00!

day 11. it's the best things in life

not the big things that you notice when the big things happen, but the small things...

like this pack of Twinkies.

when Hostess started making Twinkies some million of years ago, they make a cool little snack cake. yellow cake with a nice smooth white filling. BUT, they did not know that the "leftovers" would be a favorite...i LOVE to eat the cakes (one at a time), and then lick the paper holder.
seriously, that to me is the best part, yummy.... and the smell of Twinkies...nothing like it.

oh, today is Friday! have a great weekend everyone...they forcasted COLD brrrrrrrr temps for today, but it was about 30 degrees F when i left the house this morning...
have a safe weekend and enjoy your time off!
see ya Monday....yes for some that is a day off...MLK day, but i will be here....at work, working.

seat belts save lives.
the story: truck was in our shop last week getting the front bumper pad painted...
this past weekend, while driving down a dark country road, A deer jumped in the road.
he swerved to miss the deer and hit a pothole, then a culvert, then a tree, bounced out of the ditch and hit a phone pole.
(i would have gambled and hit the deer)

a day in photos day 1

they say a picture is worth a thousand words....
well, here is a picture worth a scratch on the head.

our friends, lets call them the Denny's. They have always taken life by the horns and have made life a great thing to lead. until yesterday.

after a nice BIG New years day lunch at the Denny farm, some people started to get on with their days work. But a few of us sat back and enjoyed the afternoon, lets the kids play and some partaking in the rest and relaxation of a lazy afternoon.

so we were sitting on the back patio, and "Mr. 1980" noticed one of the Denny's grand child was riding a 4 wheeler back home...nothing abnormal about that, until you see what he is doing on the 4 wheeler... trotting behind him is his horse, SADDLED.

oh, josh! what the hell are ya doing, son?

we laughed and chuckled our butts off...

later josh showed back up and he was asked " what the hell were you doing".

he said, the horse will not trot... sure! saddled?

his uncle Russ, said " you might be a redneck if" jokes...

i think the kicker was that as we watched this happen, josh looked up and waved the best princess DI wave i have ever seen.....

great weekend: of sorts

the story of the weekend:

friday: running late, i had to be at lauren's school at 2:00.
i ended up leaving work not at 11:30 but at 1:00, due to problems at work and payroll issues.
but got all that done and headed home. oh, CRAP! gotta go get the grocery list for Pops.
so i ran home, changed clothes and headed to Rabideaux's meat market.
then hurried to get gas and off to lauren's school, for the Christmas party.
ON TIME!

left there and got home to finish packing and load up stuff.
fred called and said he had to work late....everyone left early, but him and a semi had to be unloaded......and he was bitchy cause i was running late....HA.

so we leave the driveway at 4:00 sharp. ON THE ROAD.
we get on the interstate and hit a major jam at the I-10 bridge....15-20 minutes lost...but we got thru it! smooth driving thru beaumont and great time on Hwy 90 west of beaumont.
then we are on time and doing PERFECT till...........
liberty, texas. 6:10 PM
WTH? the traffic was stopped. not just a crawl but STOP!
i take HWY 90 to houston, due to the fact i hate houston I-10 traffic, and really on a friday evening. so we wait, and wait more...45 minutes later, still not moving and waiting, fred has to potty and i call dad, we have to back track a bit and go to I-10 from liberty, via another small highway.
but it can be done...( I NEED A GPS)

so on the dark, curvy road, boom, there is I-10...yeah! WOO HOOT!
so on to the interstate and heading west again.
we drive maybe 10 miles and OH SHIT! another stand still, by this time i am so sick of this trip.
there , we sit again. not a wreck , but from 5 lanes to two....

so we chill out and make it.
finally 610 loop! getting there.
there is I-45 north, we can make it!

i turn on the radio...what ya know! it's a station out of liberty texas.
the jam on hwy 90, was BAD! at 6:05 PM a lady was crossing the 4 lane highway and got hit by a car. she died at the scene....HOLY CRAP! fred kept saying, thank God we stopped in beaumont to potty and then the traffic in lake charles, that could have been us.

we got to dad's, it took 5 hours....normally 3 on a good day.

so my brother and his wife and their 3 kiddos where there already, they came from dallas.
so wonderful to see those kids again...i did not realize how much i missed them till then.

we woke up saturday morning and ate breakfast. then took the kids to chuck e cheese.
5 kids in CEC....crazy.

got back to dad's and opened gifts!
Nate my cute nephew is 2. dad got all the kids these huge Mickey and Minnie mouse stuffed figures.
nate opened his and looked at it and said" look! Chuck E Cheese!"
he is a riot.

lauren got a cupcake maker deluxe and could not wait to get home to "cook".

fred got a gift card and some "cute" blue mickey slippers....

i got GUITAR HERO! Aerosmith version with TWO controllers!
(COOL!!!!!!!!!)

we left Sunday early afternoon...got home and started to unload.
something was eerie...no barking.

WHERE IS COOKIE!?!!!????

fred walked out and no cookie. his cable runner had snapped and he was gone!

i was pissed, IDIOT dog.

i unloaded the car, got lauren settled making cupcakes and headed out in the dark, cold night, to look for the idiot dog.

oh, cool, i hear barking, that hound dog bark that only cookie could make....across the street.
i drove down the driveway and headed east.
the house diagonal from use has a huge shop. cookie (idiot dog) was standing at the door barking his head off....

i yelled his name! COOKIE! (idiot dog)

he came, i opened the back door and he hopped in .
got home , cleaned him up and put him in his caged area.

then feed lauren. as i was washing clothes, fred came in an asked what i was doing...

WASHING CLOTHES....duh!

he laughed. " i thought you would be dead to the world , playing GH."

me: " oh yeah! (idiot dog)

so i unpack the guitars, and hook it up.

for hours....i played, finally talked fred into playing....yeah, you know what....he kicked my butt.

so that means i have to practice and practice.....i will beat him.....
(thanks dad...)

so over all it was a great weekend.
and Christmas is coming!

note: will post pictures later...

Random

it's 11:35 am. i just eat lunch. white pizza and a cup of chili and hot cocoa.
i just sit here , day dreaming.
i love christmas. my second favorite holiday in the world.
i love traveling to my dad's and seeing lauren get excited about seeing her cousins.
i love the christmas mornings, waking lauren up and tell her SANTA came last night.
seeing the sparkle in her eyes is awesome.
i love giving gifts and seeing the reaction of my good shopping skills.

i love the smell of HAM in the oven and tasting that sweet slab of meat.
driving around looking at the lights on the houses, can't beat that.

hearing the salvation army bells when you step out of your car in a packed parking lot.
the crying kids in the toy department wanting toys, and crying when momma says, Christmas is coming soon.

SHE IS OFF

well, Lauren surprises me again.

when that kid wants to do something, she does it.

she just turned 7, and for about 3 years she has had this bike.

she never, NEVER rode it.
she hated the training wheels and hated the bike.

well Friday i get home and she tells me that Saturday morning she wants to show me something.

i think, "oh, man, another farm animal, a new dog, cat?

so Saturday morning, bright and early.

she grabs her bike.

(i should have noticed it under the carport when i got home Friday night)

and she mounts her pink bike, and SHE IS OFF....WOW!

just like that.

after i let my numbness fade, i asked fred when she learned this.

he said she got on friday afternoon after school, fell once and has never stopped since.
now, she wants a new bike for christmas....
( i think she needs to ride this one till next year)

not easy

Edward cullen

Edward cullen played by robert pattinson

Edward Anthony Masen Cullen was born the son of Elizabeth & Edward Masen on June 20, 1901. In 1918 at age seventeen, having lost his mortal family to a particularly deadly strain of Spanish Influenza, Edward found himself at death's door. Whilst recieveing treatment in Chicago, he came under the care of the enigmatic Dr. Carlisle Cullen. His mother had made a final wish that the young doctor do all within his power to prevent the death of her son from the same disease. It is unclear whether or not she was aware of the fate she was asigning to him. Dr. Cullen complied with her request the only way he knew how: by transforming Edward into a vampire.Presently, Edward resides in the wintry town of Forks, Washington with his "adopted" family: Dr. Carlisle and Esme Cullen, sisters Rosalie and Alice, and brothers Emmett and Jasper. He attended Forks High School, sharing the graduating class of Isabella Swan, human daughter of Police Chief Charlie Swan. Despite more than one hundred years of strict abstinence from human blood, upon meeting Bella he was barely able to resist the urge to feed on her. The unique, potent aroma of her blood proved to be a powerful temptation, awakening the dormant beast within and very nearly destroying the life the Cullens has constructed for themselves. In degrees, Edward learns to overcome and to control his thirst for Bella, and his fascination quickly evolves into passionate adoration. However Bella's penchant for becoming embroiled in dangerous situations weighs heavy on his conscience. When Bella is part of a near-fatal accident involving Tyler Crowley's car in the school parking lot, Edward intercedes and Bella gets discovers his extraordinary physical strength. After he rescues her again, this time from a gang of would-be attackers in Port Angeles, she begins to realise that strength is only one of the strange gifts he posesses. After this incident, the two become inseperable and their love continues to grow and evolve into something profound. Edward finds himself unwilling and unable to stay away from Bella, though he fears that he is exposing her to danger and is soon sharing the secrets of his families various "powers" and their individual histories.Edward's gift is that he can read minds, hearing peoples innermost thoughts. He has never encountered a person who is immune to his power... Until Bella shows up and he realises that her mind is impenetrable. At first this infuriates him, but it is also the catalyst for his obsession with her; How and why is her mind a mystery to him?As Bella comes to grips with the truth about the Cullen family, she continually begs Edward to turn her into one of them. She dreads the fact that she grows older than him day by day, and sees her humanity as more of a curse than a gift as she is pursued by all manner of supernatural assailants. His brothers and sisters include Alice, who can see the future, Jasper, who can control your emotions, Emmett, who has supernatural strength (even for a vampire), and the amazingly beautiful Rosalie. Though most of them trust their natural instincts and avoid her because of her sweet smelling blood, they eventually adjust to the change and support Edward's feelings for Bella. They are all vampire offspring of the mysterious Carlisle Cullen and his vampire wife Esme. While Jasper and Emmett's parents remain unknown, Rosalie and Edward talk of their parents occaisionally. Alice is from an asylum and doesn't know who created her nor does she remember her past human life.Edward is described as being impossibly beautiful. His face is angular and perfect--high cheekbones, strong jawline, straight nose, and beautiful, perfect lips. His hair, which is always in casual disarray, is an unusual bronze shade inherited by his biological mother, Elizabeth. As a human, his eyes were an emerald green. He is said to have a dazzling crooked smile. He stands 6'2", has a slender yet muscular body, and is physically 17 years old.

Jasper hale

played by jackson rathbone
Jasper Hale (born Jasper Whitlock) is the adopted son of Carlisle and Esme, adoptive brother of Edward, Emmett, and Rosalie, and husband of Alice. He was born in Texas and joined the Confederate States Army in 1861 to serve in the Civil War. Due to his extremely charismatic personality, he ascended through the ranks quickly. Jasper was turned into a vampire in 1863 by a vampire named Maria when he was 20 years old. As a vampire, he gained the ability to manipulate the emotions of those around him. Recognizing his high rank in the army, Maria decided to change him into a vampire to help her claim territory in Monterrey. Jasper's responsibility was to train young vampires and then kill them when they were no longer useful (about a year after their transformation- when their strength began to fade). After about a century of this, he grew weary of the lifestyle and joined an old friend, Peter, and his mate Charlotte. Jasper left the two eventually, not wanting to feed on humans because he could feel his prey's emotions as they died. Alice, foreseeing that they would be together, met him in a half-empty diner in Philadelphia, and together they sought out the Cullen family. Due to his past, where he was able to feed on humans whenever he chose, Jasper lacks strong self-control. He is described as tall with honey blond hair, and is muscular but lean. His body is covered with crescent-shaped scars, after the many years of fighting and training newborn vampires. In Twilight, Jasper accompanies Alice and Bella when they are hiding from James. He uses his ability to calm Bella when she is stressed or afraid. In New Moon, he attacks Bella after she gets a paper cut, prompting the Cullen family to leave Forks to protect Bella. In Eclipse, Jasper teaches the werewolves and vampires fighting techniques to defend themselves against newborn vampires. In Breaking Dawn, Jasper leaves with Alice to find a vampire-human hybrid, and returns with her to defend Renesmee from the Volturi.

alice cullen

played by ashley greene
Alice Cullen (born Mary Alice Brandon) is the adopted daughter of Carlisle and Esme, adoptive sister of Edward, Rosalie, and Emmett, and wife of Jasper. Alice is described as being petite and pixie-like at 4'10", with a graceful gait and hair that is short, spiky, and black. Her special ability is to see the future, an enhanced version of her ability to have premonitions as a human. However, her ability is limited; she is only able to see the outcome of a decision once it is made. Due to this, decisions made in the spur of the moment can not be foreseen. Alice can see futures involving humans and vampires, though is unable to see the futures of werewolves or half-breeds, such as Renesmee. In Breaking Dawn, Alice theorizes that she can see vampires very clearly because she is one, can see humans somewhat less clearly because she was one, and cannot see werewolves or half-breeds because she never was one. Alice is portrayed as being bubbly and optimistic, and loves and cares for Bella like a sister. Her hobbies include shopping, make-overs, and throwing parties. Alice's early history is very vague, as she remembers nothing of her human life and woke up alone as a vampire. It is eventually revealed that she was born around 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was kept in an asylum because she had premonitions. Alice was changed by an old vampire who worked at the asylum in order to protect her from James, a tracker vampire who was hunting her. After doing some research, Alice found her grave and discovered that the date on her tombstone matched the date of her admission to the asylum. Through her research she additionally discovered that she had a little sister named Cynthia, and that Cynthia's daughter, Alice's niece, was still alive in Biloxi.Throughout Twilight, Alice uses her ability to see the future and help Bella when she is in danger. The two soon become friends, loving each other like sisters. In New Moon, Alice foresees Bella jumping off a cliff and assumes she is trying to commit suicide, though Bella actually was partaking in the sport of cliff diving. Rosalie, believing Bella to be dead, informs Edward. After discovering the truth, Alice accompanies Bella to Italy to stop Edward from killing himself. They are successful, but are taken to see the Volturi, who act as police of the vampire world. Through Alice's premonitions, Aro is able to see that Bella will eventually become a vampire and invites her, Alice, and Edward to stay with them. They all refuse and return to Forks. In Eclipse, Alice, who proves to be an adept fighter, joins in the fight to destroy a group of rampaging newborn vampires, created by Victoria in an effort to take revenge on Edward. Alice acts as Bella's maid of honor at her wedding in Breaking Dawn and helps with Renesmee until leaving to search out a crossbreed after the Volturi plan to destroy Renesmee, believing her to be an immortal child. Alice is successful and the Volturi, not seeing a threat, leave.

rosalie hale

Rosalie Hale played by nikki reed

Rosalie Lillian Hale was born to a middle-class family in 1915 in Rochester, New York. Her father had a stable job in a bank while her mother was a housewife. Her parents were social climbers and Rosalie, who was extraordinarily beautiful, was the ticket they needed to reach their social aspiration. She was clearly the favorite of her parents, with two younger brothers. While growing up, Rosalie dreamed of a lavish life--a life with a rich husband and children as beautiful as she was. Her parents influenced her want of material things, which made her vain and conceited. She wanted a big house that someone else would clean, with a large lawn that she would play with her children on.In Rochester, where she grew up, there was only one family that had what her parents wanted--the Kings. Royce King owned the bank Rosalie's father worked in. His son, Royce II, saw Rosalie for the first time and began dating her. It was a quick courtship and the couple was soon engaged. The engagement went too quickly and wedding plans were made.Rosalie couldn't help but feel something was missing from her relationship with him, despite the fact that Royce was everything she'd dreamt of. She soon began wanting what her good friend Vera had--a husband who wasn't necessarily rich, but one that loved her and was there for her, and a small baby they could raise together lovingly. One night she went to Vera's, and while walking home she realized how late it was and she wished that she had called her father to escort her but realized it was silly since the way was so short. As she continued, she saw several drunken men. One of them turned out be Royce. Showing her off to his friends, he ripped off her jacket and the pins from her hair. When she cried out in pain, the men seemed to enjoy it. They proceeded to beat and later rape her.Royce and his friends left her dying on the streets. Carlisle Cullen came to investigate the grisly scene, found her half-dead and tried to save her humanly. Rosalie had never liked Dr. Cullen or his wife, Esme and her brother, Edward, as he then pretended to be. It had bothered her that the family was more beautiful than she was. Dr. Cullen, who turned out to be a vampire, saved Rosalie that night by turning her into a vampire after he realized she could not survive her wounds as a human. Despite the fact he and his family are vampires, they only fed on the blood of animals, calling themselves "vegetarians". Soon after becoming a vampire, she killed Royce and his friends in vengeance but was careful not to spill a drop of blood, knowing she couldn't resist that. For this particular reason, Rosalie prides herself on never having fed on human blood. Two years later, while hunting, she found a young man named Emmett being mauled by a bear and ran him back to Carlisle. She begged for him to save the dying Emmett, who reminded her of Vera's little boy Henry, by changing him into a vampire. The two fell in love and were soon married.Rosalie and Emmett currently reside in Forks, Washington, but they often live away from the family as a married couple. Rosalie is the only one of the Cullens (except Carlisle) to keep her last name, on account of her not wanting to be a vampire. It is for this reason that she resents Bella for wanting to be a vampire, for "throwing away" everything Rose ever wanted but never had a chance to have.Rosalie is described as being astoundingly beautiful, even for a vampire. She is tall, statuesque and has wavy blonde hair to the middle of her back. She is physically 18 years old.

Esme cullen

Esme Cullen played by elizabeth Reaser

Esme Cullen (born Esme Anne Platt and later Esme Anne Evenson) was born in the later 1800s and lived in Columbus, Ohio where at age 16 was treated by her future husband Dr. Cullen after she broke her leg from climbing from a tree. She was forced by her parents to marry a man named Charles Evenson but was abused by him. After realizing she was pregnant, she left her husband and gave birth to a son. After losing her son to a lung infection, Esme attempted to commit suicide by jumping from a cliff (Edward tells Bella she "fell"). Presumed dead, they didn't even take her to the emergency room and placed her in the morgue.Dr. Carlisle Cullen heard her beating heart and remembered her. He didn't want her to die and decided to change her into a vampire like himself. She was the second person he changed beside Edward. Consequently, Carlisle and Esme fell in love and were married soon after.Esme has no special power, only the ability to love very deeply and accepts Bella immediately grateful for helping and being there for the first time for Edward. She loves Bella as a daughter and often comforts her through tough times. She loves her adopted children equally but grieves the fact that she cannot bear children.Esme is physically 26 years old and is '5'6" tall. She has caramel brown hair, a heart-shaped face with dimples, and is slender yet rounded and soft.

emmett cullen

emmett Cullen played by kellen lutz

Emmett Cullen (born Emmett McCarty) is Rosalie's husband, Carlisle and Esme's adopted son, and Edward, Alice, and Jasper's adoptive brother. Emmett is described as being tall, burly, extremely muscular, and, to most humans, the most intimidating of his adoptive siblings. He has slightly curly dark hair and dimpled cheeks.Emmett was 20 and living in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in 1935 when he was mauled by a bear. The injuries from the attack were severe and he was found by Rosalie, who had been hunting in the area at the time. Rosalie, who was reminded of her friend's baby having the same curls and innocent appearance, carried him over a hundred miles to Appalachia where Carlisle Cullen was, asking him to spare Emmett's life by turning him into a vampire. Emmett joined Carlisle's coven, but initially had trouble adjusting to the family's diet of animal blood. In Twilight, Emmett is at first wary of Bella, but eventually warms up to her. He often teases her for her clumsiness and constant blushing, and votes in favor of her becoming a vampire in New Moon. In Breaking Dawn Emmett jokingly makes innuendos about Bella's sex life, until being silenced when she defeats him in an arm wrestling match.

the day after

great thanksgiving. had lunch with fred's family at a resturant.
easy. no clean up, no left overs to figure out what to do with.

then we went to robert's mom and dad's. very relaxing.
enjoyed the afteroon with friends.

but today, friday after, i sit her working, well at work.
D is off to spend time with his family and all the other tech's, well i guess they are home.

but me, sitting here reading more of step. meyers website, chilling.
messing with my blog and checking out face book friends.

i changed my "tunes" here to relect my moods with the books...
and i want badly to go to washington state to visit town of Forks.
just to see and get the feeling of completion.
these books have affected me in a great way.

now to get ready for christmas.

ramblings

Today is Wednesday.
a beautiful day in Louisiana.

so, my little world is doing good today.

better then Monday, well, Monday night at least.

and i think i have O.C.D.
nice!

i knew i was a little nuts, but really i knew all along. the scrap booking stuff.
why have all that stuff? will i ever use it all? likely not.
the knitting, a newer hobby.
will i knit enough to make use of the 50 lbs. of yarn i bought?
likely not.
now reading ....i love to read, my imagination takes me off to far away places, to places where dreams flirt with reality, a nice place to escape. but sometimes those "escapes" tend to make me doubt reality.
so i am cool...taking each day as it was meant to be.
trying to get rid of my thought regarding the last books i read...the TWILIGHT SAGA.

i hate to say it, but wow! those books drew me in like crazy. great books no doubt.
the movie? eh...not what i wanted, but good for those that will newer read the books.

so that's it....turkey day is less then 12 hours away.
happy thanksgiving

Interesting Geography Facts

Brazil got its name from the nut -- not the other way around.

Spain literally means 'the land of rabbits.'

There are no natural lakes in the state of Ohio -- every one is man-made.

The Eisenhower Interstate System requires that one mile in every five MUST be straight. These straight sections are usable as airstrips in times of war or other emergencies.

Antarctica is the only land on our planet that is not owned by any country. Ninety percent of the world's ice covers Antarctica. This ice also represents seventy percent of all the fresh water in the world. As strange as it sounds, however, Antarctica is essentially a desert. The average yearly total precipitation is about two inches. Although covered with ice (all but 0.4% of it, i.e.), Antarctica is the driest place on the planet -- with an absolute humidity lower than the Gobi desert.

In the Sahara Desert , there is a town named Tidikelt, which did not receive a drop of rain for ten years. Technically though, the driest place on Earth is in the valleys of the Antarctic near Ross Island. There has been no rainfall there for two million years.

why john mccain?

just a few issues....

1.gun control-John McCain believes that the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is a fundamental, individual Constitutional right that we have a sacred duty to protect. We have a responsibility to ensure that criminals who violate the law are prosecuted to the fullest, rather than restricting the rights of law abiding citizens. Gun control is a proven failure in fighting crime. Law abiding citizens should not be asked to give up their rights because of criminals - criminals who ignore gun control laws anyway.

2.agricultural policies-America's agricultural industry is the best in the world. John McCain will expand access for U.S. agricultural producers to foreign markets, providing a great and lasting benefit to American farmers. He will work tirelessly to ensure our farmers receive fair prices for their products.

3.homeland security-Senator John McCain believes that the highest priority for any President is protecting the lives of American citizens, defending their personal freedom, and securing our land and resources. John McCain has the experience to insure that this priority is put into practice by the hundreds of thousands of dedicated men and women who serve their country in homeland security positions every day.

4.national security- The most sacred responsibility vested in a president - the commander in chief - is to "preserve and protect" American citizens. John McCain has the necessary vision and unrivaled experience to command the United States armed forces and adapt our nation's defenses to the demands of a changing and dangerous world.

5.the economy- A pro-growth, pro-jobs strategy to get our economy back on track. John McCain's strategy includes taking the near-term actions needed to provide immediate help to American families while also taking the longer-term steps necessary to secure America's economic prosperity and leadership in the world.

monday musing

so i had to go to the doctor yesterday and was sent for tests.
EKG, chest x-ray and i will have a ECG tomorrow...
i will know more once that ECG is done. the doctor thought he heard a murmur.

so i wait....

now on to the political point i want to make this week....

“Mark my words: It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy,” Biden told the crowd. “The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Watch, we’re going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”
“He’s going to have to make some really tough - I don’t know what the decision’s going to be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it’s going to happen,” he said.

wow JOE! and your this man's pick for VP!

and then you have colin powell now backing barry...and they say it's not about RACE? my ass.
powell is just as liberal as john mccain....and yet the race card comes up.
then you have this SPREAD THE WEALTH socialism.....total bull shit.

i will be damn if i will work to help some lazy ass on wellfare....get a job! earn your keep.

okay, rant over for now....plus i have to watch my stress level....

and GH26 created a new banner! WOO HOO! just check the spelling...LOL

I am back

so friday morning was crunch time. do we leave or do we stay?
i mean my thinking was to stay...no big deal...but there is always
that little voice in the back of your mind. the storm could shift,
it could come here.
they put a curfew up at 10am friday morning to 6am saturday...dang!
so we packed up and headed to lafayette, more like Breaux Bridge.
and camped out friday night. this was the sky friday about 6pm.

we were under tornado watches all night friday and all day saturday.
we kept in contact with family in houston and in iowa. friends called
to check on us and it was nice to talk to someone...
saturday i had a bad case of cabin fever so we went to walmart, just to pass time.
thank goodness all three of us love to color in coloring books...
so we decided saturday we would go home sunday noonish.

so saturday morning we got up after a good night sleep and started to pack up.
we knew we did not have electric at home, but it's time to go face the music.
we left breaux bridge around 11:30 and filled up the tanks and got on the interstate.
it was hard to head back west toward home due to the fact of all the utility vehicles
in the right lane.
i was in awe at the amount of utility trucks headed toward texas....i lost count after 100
but from: MI, MO, VA, MASS, IN, and others.
i felt peace seeing those trucks and proud to be an american, were your fellow
brothers come to your aid in a crisis....aWESOME.
then i see this:

it rained like hell for 30 minutes. i swore i heard hail, but it was hard rain....

so we got home to see the damages.

tree limbs down, swing torn to hell, and the roof messed up.

water still standing.

then the real world hit.

love bugs, ants, mosquitos. and no power. we got a generator and a window A/C unit.

plugged in the ice box and freezer.

got power monday around 1ish... life is good. i love were i live...but once in a while nature throws a fit....and that is okay.

so i am back to normal as much as possible right now.
i am really worried about my dad in houston. possible 3-6 weeks with no power.
his house was fine, but power is a big deal.
i might make a run this weekend to bring him supplies..
