the mission: the perfect red velvet cake

over the years, i have not been a big fan of the red cake.

over the years i have tried to make the perfect red cake.

over the years i have wasted a lot of ingredients.

until last night.

when shopping a few weeks ago i was looking for a few cakes to bake.

there is nothing like walking into some one's kitchen and seeing a beautiful

cake sitting on the counter, i want to have that kitchen, were the cake is a welcoming sight.

so i got a box cake! WHAT? a box cake? yes, hanging head in shame, a box cake.

but i have to say, this cake was the best red velvet cake i have ever eaten.

moist and a nice texture, not dry and crumbly.

next mission: a lemon cake with lemon icing.....

The first time I had ever had red velvet cake it was from a box! Stephanie H was nice enough to send me one since for some weirdo reason they don't have it up here!

Looks like it was yum!

I'm not a big fan of red velvet, but that does look PRETTY!

Now lemon? YUM! Try some lemon curd on it/in it. So tasty.

looks good Lori. People rave about my poundcake and all I do is add butter to a box I buy from www.tastefullysimple.com Don't underestimate the power of the box!
