it was a dark knight

well fred and i rarely go to the movies together, alone.

so last night we went to see DARK KNIGHT..

first, thanks Erin for talking about it on SJ.
that's what peaked my interest.

i loved it. it was better then batman begins and i did close my eyes once.
it was action packed and if i can i will see it again.

this is one of the finest movies i have seen in a while.
the joker character was amazing...and bale was intoxicating

Full weekend

what a full weekend...

Saturday we hung at the house, cleaning and getting Lauren's room in order. Her furniture was delivered Friday morning...(will post pictures later)

then we headed to wal mart to get a few groceries and a birthday gift for Lauren's friends party on Sunday....

Sunday: went to church...we had a guest pastor. he does work for the mission of mercy org. and was talking about the program. well, before he was done speaking we adopted a child.
i am looking forward to getting to know Celeste and sharing with her. she lives in Mozambique and she is 6 years old.
at 1:00 was Kimberly's birthday party....in 97 degree weather the kids enjoyed the water slide.
the adults sweated our butts off....but Lauren had a great time playing with her friends from school.
at 5:00 we left the party and hurried home to change in to "cow attire". yeah, we had to work cows. i really enjoy this farming activity, but with the heat it sucks. and then we saw a dead cow.
Lauren was FULL of questions, how, why, when, what?
but she did not freak out. she was curious...which is good.
so today i am licking my wounds. i did not remember from previous times in the fields to were long pants....my stark white legs are ravaged with red bugs and scratches....
i am looking forward to this week. Dad called saturday night and will be stopping by thursday night...

the sky

have you ever stopped and just looked?

i mean really looked at the sky.

while Lauren and i were coming back from town yesterday afternoon around 7:30, she was talking about her day and i noticed the sky.

she saw it right about the same time i did and we both said, "that would be a pretty picture."

so we stopped off the side of the road and took pictures.

i was fun to listen to her describe the colors.
i think this will become a new hobby for me...taking time to enjoy what God created.

the mission: the perfect red velvet cake

over the years, i have not been a big fan of the red cake.

over the years i have tried to make the perfect red cake.

over the years i have wasted a lot of ingredients.

until last night.

when shopping a few weeks ago i was looking for a few cakes to bake.

there is nothing like walking into some one's kitchen and seeing a beautiful

cake sitting on the counter, i want to have that kitchen, were the cake is a welcoming sight.

so i got a box cake! WHAT? a box cake? yes, hanging head in shame, a box cake.

but i have to say, this cake was the best red velvet cake i have ever eaten.

moist and a nice texture, not dry and crumbly.

next mission: a lemon cake with lemon icing.....

i love the internet

right now i am listen to my local talk radio station on the web.

i listen to alot of talk radio, 30 minutes when i travel to work and 30 minutes when i travel home.
when i was younger my dad only had AM in his company cars/trucks and i would hate to ride in it because of the AM only station, well it comes full circle, it's the only thing i have been listening to for about a year.

www.KAOK.com

today's morning show, one of the guest is the Governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal.

the WORD is he is a possible VP for mccain.....i hope that will not happen....he has only been in office since january....

but on a side note it's friday.
no big plans this weekend, except to go to Mrs. Diva's birthday party saturday.
i will post pictures monday

veto baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is why i am so loving politics....

Welcome Back, Governor!Governor Bobby Jindal appeared on the Castner and Walensky show this morning, discussing his veto of the controversial pay raise for state legislators. The Governor took responsibility for mistakenly promising legislators that they could manage their own internal affairs. Jindal complemented the engagement and passion of Louisiana voters. He discussed Ann Duplessis' comments (she called him "Boy Wonder"), recent legislative accomplishments, and his agenda for the future. Jindal also shared his memories of "Welcome Back, Kotter."

to listen to the interview, which is 12 minutes long.
